About the Poet

My name is David Wright. I'm a poet and a survivor. I use poetry as my therapy in getting through the darkest times. I'm not proud nor am I ashamed of what I've been through, what I've done, and who I am. I'm different. I'm a minority within a minority. I'm just your average pan-romantic asexual genderfluid dude, and I'm just as confused as you at figuring out what that exactly means. I'm not sure if there's anything normal about me and I'm ok with that now. I wasn't at first, but I'm growing and I'm learning to accept myself, faults and all. I'm only 21 years young. For the last 10 years I've struggled so hard to make it to the next. I'm complicated, but I'll try to share my story and poetry with you, in hopes that you can better understand what the world looks like to a lot more people than you might think. And if you're one of those many people who can relate to me on any of these issues, then I hope you can find comfort in knowing you're not alone and that maybe I could teach you to use poetry to help yourself like how it has helped me.

Here are the top 10 of my issues in alphabetical order because I honestly can't rank them in any one way.
Anxiety
Bipolar disorder
Depression
Eating disorders
Faith struggles (religious and in general)
Gender identity struggles
Self-harming (cutting, burning, bruising)
Sexual harassment/assault
Sexual identity struggles
Suicide attempts
